20 Mar 2008The Blog of a recovered Compulsive GamblerThis blog, I hope, will change the way that you think about gambers, and compulsive gamblers especially. I am normal, I have a a wife and two great kids, but a few years ago it was almost all taken away from me, becaue I was not responsible enough to take my problem to some one who could treat me. I thought that I could handle it. I was wrong. Today I work with compulsive gamblers and guide and council compulsive gamblers, and try to make them feel better about their problem.
My adventure with gambling began when I was 23, in college. It began with playing poker a few nights a week with friends, and I found out that I was actually pretty good at it. I was winning money, and I began playing with other people, in poker clubs. As I lived in a small town, my knowledge of the game more or less stopped there, since I had few playing partners. Later on, in Grad school, I found more players, more clubs, and I soared. I was in my element; I played a few games a week, won money, lost some, but kept in control.
I will continue the story in my next post. Keep up to date!
