GREaT Foundation

Are you gambling more than you really want? Many people do, and this is not unheard of in online gambling either. The GREaT Foundation provides help and advice for such problem gamblers, mainly through its ties with GamCare. It raises funds in support of research into problem gambling, but also provides an online hot line for to talk about the player's issues.

To date - and the foundation was founded only in mid-2009 - GREaT has raised over £5 million for its efforts, funds raised from companies that derive income from gambling directly, such as William Hill, as well as companies that derive income from gambling indirectly, such as media companies or lawyers and accountants. Its goal for 2010 is to surpass this total by 20% and reach £6 million. All funds are raised voluntarily.

The money - so far a total of £4.46million - is distributed to the Responsible Gambling Fund in support of research, education and treatment of problem gambling.
