There is not much to criticise about the PartyGammon gaming platform although some players have passed comments that the graphics of the game board is more cartoonish than realistic. But in the end this is personal preference and it should not really detract from your overall gaming experience as you will find that game play is smooth which is perhaps the most important thing. There are also a couple of useful features such as players notes so you can make and keep comments on players for future reference.

The software is downloadable but doesn't take too long to install and neither is the registration process time consuming. You can be playing within just minutes.

Even though backgammon is the only thing on offer, there is a surprising degree of variety available. When you are in the lobby you will see everything on offer: single games, matches, sit and goes, or tournaments (all of which are available as 'play money' games too!).

To begin with, there are free games if you are not yet ready to play for real money. But when you are, you will find a good selection of single tables with a range of skill levels and stakes thanks to reasonably good player traffic. There are also match games which is where competitors are paired up and each pair plays a series of games to determine which will progress to the next round. Obviously this format of playing is more time consuming. Sit and go tournaments take place around the clock - again at different stakes and different speeds so search for one that suits your bankroll and style of play.

Finally, there are plenty of regularly scheduled events throughout the week. There is no live chat option which is a real draw back to PartyGammon and hopefully this is reviewed soon.
