Ladbrokes Poker Review

Full Review of Ladbrokes Poker (9.04)

Ladbrokes is not only a sportsbook that dates back a hundred years (or so), it's also Europe's premier online poker site. Ladbrokes' sponsored poker pros are part of this community, you can find online poker qualifiers for events, and when joining, you get a hefty Welcome Poker Bonus.

Ladbrokes is an established gambling company, in operation since 1886. Even though dating two centuries past, it cannot be said that the company is not of our day and time. For one, its online operations, which rank high in the poker world.

Ladbroked Poker is a non-networked site. This means all the players you will meet at the poker room are Ladbrokes players, rather than players at other poker rooms connected via a shared network. Traffic on the site is not affected by this, and is steady and large, thanks to the widespread popularity of the Ladbrokes brand.

The Ladbrokes Poker Room offers Texas Hold 'em, Omaha and the usual variety of Internet poker games, though noticeably misses 7 Card Stud in a version other than Low or High-Low. Omaha is a popular option at Ladbrokes.

The feel at Ladbrokes Poker is clean and game- and player-oriented. There are no flashy graphics, perhaps somewhat missed. While avatars and the like are gone, players do have the option to pick one of three options for table size.

A plus is the lobby, which is easy to navigate, and make use of for making intelligent table choices, with available stats such as average pot sizes, chip stack amounts, and player locations.

Bonuses, Promotions & Wagering Requirements (8)

Ladbrokes appears to be trying to extend beyond its focus on the United Kingdom by offering a fantastic range of incentives for new players. Amongst its impressive suite of promotions are free bets, sign up bonuses, a Bad Beat Progressive Jackpot and monthly reload bonuses.

It is welcome bonus is particularly note worthy as its one of the best in the industry for new players but be sure to check out the small print as it does come with a few strings attached. For instance, it must be cleared within 45 days of making your first deposit.

On the positive side, Ladbrokes' wagering requirements are considered rather generous in comparison with other online poker rooms. You must accumulate 10 times the number of Player Points in relation to your initial deposit in order to receive your full bonus.

You should note also that you need to submit a claim to receive your bonus as it will not be credited automatically to your account like many other online poker rooms.

Software Features & Graphics (8.07)

To play at Ladbrokes, you have a choice of their online instant play version or downloading their software to your computer which is recommended for more experienced players. Both are fast and smooth.

Ladbrokes is powered by a customized version of Microgaming. It is regularly updated and is installed automatically each time you log into your Ladbrokes account.

The graphics are not as flashy as some other pokers but this may actually be a plus in the eyes of many players who are simply looking for a straight-forward, old-fashioned game of poker.

The Ladbrokes Poker Lobby has quite a few different features which can be confusing until you get the hang of it. One neat feature, however, is that you can customize the lobby and under 'My Lobby' you can bookmark your favorite games and tables and create reminders in your calendar about upcoming events.

Full stats are available during the game of your own play such as your win percentage and how often you see the flop. You can also bring up your hand history to analyze your game.

It is possible to play up to eight tables simultaneously although there cannot be too many players taking advantage of this feature!

Loyalty Points and VIP Clubs (10)

Ladbrokes also offers a fairly typical, run-of-the-mill loyalty program. Members of the Poker Player Club earn Poker Points on all real money tables (regardless of whether they are sit n go or multi table tournaments).

These points can then be used to buy into multi table tournaments or traded in for cash. For cash tables, you earn 10 points for every $1 in cash rake and in tournaments you earn 10 points for every $1 you spend on tournament fees.

There are four levels in the Poker Play Club ranging from bronze to VIP depending upon the number of points you earn in a month. If you earn more than 10,000 Poker Points in a month, you will be invited to join Ladbrokes VIP Club where you will be offered exclusive services and rewards. You will be able to earn points more quickly and access more bonuses and freerolls when you are a VIP member.

Games, Tournaments & Table Limits (9)

Ladbrokes Online Poker offers Texas Holdem cash games, single-table tournaments (STTs) and multi-table tournaments (MTTs). Other games - complete with tutorials how to play them, include 5 Card Draw, 5 Card Stud, 7 Card Stud and Razz 7 Card Stud. Buy ins are flexible and range across the board, for all poker bankrolls.

The most popular games at Ladbrokes are unsurprisingly the Texas Holdem cash games. There are, however, single and multi table tournaments and of course a full range of games such as Five Card Draw, Five Card Stud, Seven Card Stud and Razz Seven Stud and all variations of Holdem and Omaha.

The standard betting structures (fixed limit, pot limit and no limit) are also available and there are buy ins tailored to suit all bankroll sizes. Limits range from 2 cents up to $500 a hand.

Ladbrokes Poker doesn't attract the same level of poker traffic in comparison to some other online poker rooms but there is a solid core of dedicated Ladbroke players (which, by the way, is also steadily growing thanks to their promotional push).

This means that tournaments run around the clock. There are literally thousands of poker tournaments and Ladbrokes even sponsors some of their own events. You should note that tournaments are now priced in Euros.

There are a vast range of guaranteed prize tournaments which can be viewed clearly on the Ladbrokes Poker site and there is a daily $100 guaranteed freeroll.

There are also frequent satellite entries in most of the major global poker events such as the Monte Carlo Millions, the European Poker Tour and the World Series of Poker.

Ladbrokes pays out over $1 million in cash rewards every month to its players.

Provided you are playing on one of the specified tables, you could hit the Bad Beat Progressive Jackpot where you have a losing hand containing Four of a Kind, 8s or better and there must be four or more players at the table. The jackpot contribution is 50 cents from each pot.

As Ladbrokes Poker has a smaller following than other poker rooms, it can take a while for the jackpot to really build.

Customer Service & Support (7.27)

Ladbrokes Poker's customer service support team has earned a reputable name as a result of their responsive and helpful staff. To get in touch with Customer Service, send an email or call them. Unfortunately there is no instant messaging system which is a drawback.

There is a comprehensive self-help section if you can't find the answer to your question elsewhere on the site.
