Company Mergers and the Gambler
A Gibraltar-based, UK-operator has teamed up with another gaming firm, in only another change in the corporate landscape.
Many of these mergers and partnerships are tightly connected and directly motivated by the recent legal changes in the United States. Geographic location of the operators is also very important to understand the changes, as some countries (the US, specifically) are in the process of prohibiting operations, and others (England, among others) are growing more welcoming to online gambling. As for the end users, the gamblers, this means larger sites, with greater games selection and more specialty sections. For instance, if a poker room merges with a greater operation, or one that operates sportsbooks, then the new company would offer more than one specialty field. Poker fans can thus familiarize themselves with new fields of gambling online, with results possibly being that they like it and find a new hobby which they have never before tried or even heard of. The changes do not mean disappearing sites, but rather bigger ones. Concerning existing customers, account holders at sites that go through such ownership and operative changes, they need not worry. Since their greatest, unequalled asset is and will always be the gamblers, they are taken care of with gentle hands. As a matter of fact, the gamblers would notice very little changes in most cases. They will keep their user names and passwords and might even walk away with an incentive or bonus to compensate them for any inconvenience whatsoever. |
With the changes taking place around the industry, mostly on legal and corporate levels and less having to do with the end user directly, it is worthwhile taking the time and explaining what they do mean to the gamblers. Earlier this week, the industry got news of yet another merger.
