Legislation Causes PPA to Protest

Compromised of online and offline poker players, the PPA has been one of the first organizations to support and defend the rights of online poker players. The PPA is supported by various poker players and card rooms located across the United States.
The President of the PPA led the latest protest against the legislation to prohibit online poker. He urged players this week to call a toll free number and defend the freedom of Americans to use the sites. He stated that anyone who wished to participate should call a publicly advertised number and speak with the senator's office and make some key arguments. Callers were asked to phone in and make it clear that they are legitimate voters and strongly oppose any legislation that would prohibit online poker, and that the senator should vote against such legislation. Additional points that players were asked to make were that the government should consider regulating online poker, much like the government regulates other forms of gaming, like lotteries. The senator must understand that prohibitions such as these simply do not work and such legislation would only drive players underground. The PPA of course were looking to save poker from being banned but has encouraged anyone concerned with the future of online gambling, to join forces with them and rebel. |
After taking in the latest arrests of top executives in the gambling world, the Poker Players Alliance (PPA) has initiated a protest against the legislation, seeing their quest as an attempt to further "promote and protect America's favorite past-time".
