Blackberry Playbook Challenges Mobile Gambling

Blackberry Playbook Challenges Mobile GamblingCould Apple's dominance of mobile gaming be under threat in April?

By John W | Mar 26, 2011

Apple has been dominating the mobile gambling headlines in recent times, with the launch of iPhones, iPads and iPods, but the new Blackberry Playbook is set to challenge all that.

Playbook set for April release

The Blackberry Playbook is set to be released in April 2011, according to all reports, and should have a big impact on the world of mobile gaming. This tablet computer device

is expected to be much smaller than the iPad and even the recently-released iPad 2, so it will be seen as more comfortable by many gamblers.

According to all news reports, the Playbook will be the first tablet to match the price of the iPad 2, with both the Samsung Galaxy Tab and Motorola Zoom expected to cost more.

Where to for mobile gaming?

As we predicted when Apple released its iPad 2 at the beginning of March, we are about to see a string of launches of new mobile gaming and sportsbook apps.

Online sportsbook Betfair was the first internet gaming operator to launch a betting application for the original iPad back in mid-2010, but this was followed immediately after by other betting apps from operators such as Paddy Power and mobile casino Jackpot City.
