What Does iPad 2 Mean for Mobile Gaming?

Apple chief Steve Jobs unveiled the iPad 2 to the world last week, revealing an ultra-modern machine that is 33 percent thinner and up to nine times faster than its predecessor.

Opportunity for Mobile Gaming Apps

If the original iPad is anything to go by, online gaming operators will be rushing to produce appropriate apps for the new model, which goes on sale in the USA on March 11 and in European markets later this month.

Leading online casino and sportsbook Betfair was the first eGaming operator to launch a betting application for the Apple iPad, back in mid-2010, but this was soon followed by various other betting apps from operators such as Paddy Power and mobile casinos such as Jackpot City.

Lighter, Faster and Better

Apple is promoting the iPad 2 as being thinner and lighter, making it even more comfortable to hold and without a doubt more appropriate for use by consumers of mobile games, including those on which one can wager.

"Two powerful cores and faster graphics... all with the same 10 hours of battery life" means the iPad 2 will be better for gaming, if it meets all the standards that Apple is talking about.
