It might not be your favorite subject in the world, but the fact is that Britney-bets are all the rage at online gambling sites. Their first baby isnt even a year old, and Ms. Spears has been the subject of ridicule and condemnation for her disregard for safety laws regarding child restraints in cars. While Britney Spears might be claiming now that her second pregnancy was unplanned, online gambling sites predicted it long ago.

Then again, it is important to remember that gaming sites are not always proven correct. It might sell tabloid articles to say that Britney Spears and K-Fed are about to split up, but when such stories are turned into odds at online casinos there are likely to be many disappointed people out there who took a risk on gossip only to lose a bit of money. Even if, in comparison to other bets, such losses are chump change, when odds are based on tabloid journalism stories, sales at news stands often also translate into revenues.

Gaming sites love to offer entertainment odds because fans love to take part, in their own little way, in profiting from the lives of those who profit in turn from their money. A fan can spend $20 on movie tickets, or $100 on concert tickets, and still; win $200 or more based on bets regarding a certain actor, actress, or musician. This gives fans a certain kind of perverse pleasure, not quite like living vicariously through the objects of their fandom, but certainly profiting from the foibles of them from time to time.
