Former basketball star Charles Barkley has made the headlines for all the wrong reasons once again, this time saying cable network Fox News is "f---ed up" and "corrupt" and that he prefers CNN. "Sir Charles", a former Republican who recently announced his intention to run for governor in his home state of Alabama in 2014, told television trade publication Broadcasting & Cable: "I watch CNN, they're not f---ed up like Fox... They are a mouthpiece for the Republican Party. I watch [Fox] a couple times when there is someone I want to see on there. But they're corrupt." Gambling debts This is not the first time in 2008 that Barkley has courted controversy. In May he reportedly paid off his gambling debts to Wynn Las Vegas, having accumulated a debt of as much as $400,000. He had borrowed the amount from Wynn in the form of four $100,000 casino markers on October 18 and 19, 2007. Although he paid back the amount in full, he did not manage to prevent the story from being made public, which is likely to serve as a barrier to his future political ambitions. |
Barkley reportedly paid off $400,000 in gambling debts earlier this year.
