Wimbledon Star Still Chasing Aces

Almost 25 years since becoming the youngest ever winner of the men's singles event at Wimbledon, 42-year-old Boris Becker is back in the headlines. However, Becker has hung up his tennis whites in favor of the green baize of the poker table.

Becker is serious. In fact, he's turned pro. After years as a tennis professional, Becker has now turned his skills as tennis strategist to outsmarting his poker opponents. Becker's interest in poker began while touring on the ATP circuit, when players would play cards during rain breaks.

New Poker Celebrity
Becker is quickly becoming a recognizable favorite on the international poker scene. In November of 2008, he joined Team PokerStars, the largest online poker card room in the world.

In July of this year, he will participate in the European Poker in his native Dortmund, and will later take part in the Tour Grand Final in Monte Carlo. Becker has stated that he intends to continue to sharpen his poker skills with the intention of reaching the upper echelons of international poker.

Dealing with the Pressure
Becker says that poker is all about staying cool under pressure, and this is exactly where he's been for the last three decades. To Becker, the poker tour is like the tennis tour, traveling from city to city.

With his focus set on some of the biggest poker purses in the world, Becker has the tools, and all that remains to be seen is whether he has the nerve.
