X Factor Odds Firm as Field Cut to EightMatt Cardle firms to William Hill odds favoritism to win competition.

Things are heating up in series 7 of the hit British TV show The X Factor, with the field of talented singers now down to just eight contestants.

Matt Cardle, who as one of the two remaining boys has been mentored by Dannii Minogue, continues to lead the field, with online bookmaker William Hill offering odds of 7/4 on him winning the competition.

Close behind are the top girl, Rebecca Ferguson, 15/8 and the top group One Direction, a five-member boy band that has been particularly noticeable because it only performed as one unit for the first time at the beginning of this season.

The remaining five contestants are: Cher Lloyd, 8/1, Wagner Fiuza-Cerrilho,. 25/1, Mary Byrne, 33/1, Katie Waissel, 66/1, and Paije Richardson, 66/1.

Betting also continues on which of the four managers will be the first to leave the show. Louis Walsh, who has two contestants remaining in the over-28s category (Byrne and Wagner) is 2/7 favorite, ahead of Simon Cowell (groups), 6/1, Cheryl Cole (girls, 8/1). And Minogue (boys), 9/1.

Betting is open only until November 20. Airing on ITV, the next round of The X Factor will take place on November 20 and 21, with the theme still to be announced to the public.
