The 2010 World Cup in South Africa is fast approaching, and the William Hill sportsbook is taking bets on every possible scenario.

Spain remains the outright favorite for the tournament, at 4/1, trailed by Brazil, 5/1, England, 11/2, and Argentina, 7/1.

First Round's First

But it is the betting on the group stages that we recommend taking a look at, with the first round of the tournament reduced to eight groups of four, and every team in with a chance of winning their group or qualifying in the first two positions.

The "group of death" at World Cup 2010 is Group G, featuring five-time world champions Brazil and modern day powerhouses Portugal and the Ivory Coast, as well as North Korea.

Brazil is 4/7 to win the group, although we think Portugal at 10/3 and Ivory Coast at 7/2 are both good value to win the group.

In qualification odds, Brazil is 1/7, Portugal is 4/6, Ivory Coast, 8/11 and North Korea considered highly unlikely at 12/1.

The other group to watch is the C, featuring Germany, Serbia, Ghana and Australia, all reasonably strong teams.

Germany is unsurprisingly the group favorite at 5/6, but Serbia, 10/3, Ghana, 4/1 and Australia, 7/1, are all considered chances of taking top spot.

Ghana at 5/4 to qualify in the top two spots is good value, with the African teams set for a strong showing in the first World Cup on the continent.

The tournament begins on June 11.
