Good Morning America co-host George Stephanopoulos is set to thrill millions of poker fans across the United States when he plays poker as part of a segment on dream adventures.

Stephanopoulos, who was once an adviser to former US president Bill Clinton, will face off against several poker pros, including Phil Hellmuth and Jason Lee for a segment airing on the ABC morning show on Wednesday, May 5.

This could be viewed as yet another step poker is making into the mainstream, showcasing on the media, especially whilst a heated debate for and against legalizing online poker and online gambling in general is taking place in the US.

The contest will be commentated by Ali Nejad, the announcer from NBC's Poker After Dark.

The special segment, "Living the dream," is being aired all week from May 3-7, and follows the GMA anchors as they live out their dreams in various locations around the United States.

Stephanopoulos, who has been trained by poker professional Annie Duke to prepare for the show, nominated his dream of going to Atlantic City.

"I want to go back and win the poker games I lost in high school," Stephanopoulos said, adding that he "used to play a lot but I've got kids now, got a life."
