Super Bowl Favorites, If They Get to Play

Super Bowl Favorites, If They Get to PlayThe New England Patriots are odds favorites, but currently chances are for a league lockout.

Leading online sportsbooks such as bet365 and William Hill have posted odds for Super Bowl XLVI, Conference Championships and some have even posted odds for all matches, each week of the season. But will there be a full 16 game season, or a season at all?

Why Betting Now Makes Sense

If you're optimistic, you have until around September 8 to bet on the Green Bay Packers - 7/1 favorites on William Hill, the New England Patriots - 7/1 favorites themselves on bet365, or the green Bay Packers - a 13/2 favorite if you ask 888 sport.

More interesting, perhaps, is a bet on one of the lesser favorites - Baltimore? The Giants? Vick's Eagles? This early in the season, there is plenty of room for an underdog to establish itself in your plans, but fall off the radar when it comes to the sports betting odds.

Lockout Possibility

A lockout has been looming since the CBA expired March 3. With several highlights, most notably a US judge ruling in favor of players and lifting the owners' lockout, there has been little progress.

The NBA has similar trouble. Only last night did the Dallas Mavericks finish off the Miami Heat in 6 games, and we're looking at a possible lockout there too. One thing is for sure though: the sportsbooks are preparing next season's odds as we speak.
