Online betting exchange Betfair has signed a deal with Matchroom Sport which sees it become the new title sponsor of the famed Prizefighter series - six knockout boxing tournaments which take place throughout the UK during the year.

Betfair and Boxing

Under the deal, Betfair obtains exclusive branding rights across the ring, and on the fighters and ring card girls. In addition Betfair customers will receive expert analysis and in-depth fighter interviews on its editorial site and social media platforms. A Betfair analysts will also be ringside at fights to discuss price movements.

This relationship already began at the sold-out Light Welterweights II show in Wolverhampton on February 11, which was shown live on Sky Sports 1, HD 1 and in 3D. It will continue as the series makes it way around the country during the year, attracting punters and boxing enthusiasts alike.

First Round Success

Betfair analysts were on hand in Wolverhampton as Leeds man Adil Anwar defeated Huddersfield fighter Tyrone Nurse to claim Yorkshire bragging rights, the winner's check and a shot at the British title. Both men were unbeaten going into the one-night tournament, so plenty was at take.

The total prize pool for the Prizefighter Series is £96,000. Six tournaments are being held throughout the year at various British boxing halls. Each follow the same format: eight fighters, seven fights, one winner. Losers of the 3x three minute round fights are knocked out of the tournament. All fights are completed on the same evening.
