UltimateBet Raises Poker Stakes
Online Poker site, UltimateBet announced Monday that it is adding over $5,000 in prize money to an inter-forum Texas Hold 'em series in which online poker forums will compete to find out which one is home to the best players. "UltimateBet recognizes the importance and value of online poker forums to its community of players," said Annie Duke, the winner of the 2004 World Series of Poker Tournament of Champions and a consultant for UltimateBet. "Not only do they provide valuable information, but they've also helped countless players hone their game to become champions on the world stage. We're thrilled to be a part of this exciting series that will determine once and for all which forum is king," she said. The Online Forum Challenge Freeroll begins on December 20 at 3PM U.S. Eastern Time. A $1,000 prize pool is on offer for the Texas Hold 'em event, in addition to $500 in prizes for winning forums. A second tournament, entitled Everyone's a Winner, gets underway the following day, with $2,000 in UltimateBet tournament entries and $1,000 in prizes for winning forums up for grabs. Professional poker player, Annie Duke will compete in both tournaments, with a one-year membership to the Poker Player's Alliance on offer to the player who knocks her out of either tournament.
