PokerStars, the world's largest online poker site, is celebrating its 10th anniversary of operations by aiming to break the world record for the largest number of people playing simultaneously.

PokerStars already holds the current record of 149,196 players simultaneously participating in the one online poker tournament, but is looking to beat that record on Sunday December 4 with a $250,000 guaranteed tournament and a buy-in of just $1.

The winner of this tournament is guaranteed a first prize of $50,000, regardless of whether the Guinness world record is beaten or not. In addition, players will win $10 bonuses for knocking out participating Team PokerStars pros.

Registration for the event is already open in the main tournament lobby.

Promos to Celebrate 10 Years


PokerStars is promising 10 BIG PROMOS to celebrate its 10 years of operations. It has already named three of the promotions, and will be unveiling the remaining seven over the coming weeks.

The three already named are: the 10th anniversary giveaway, ending December 1, with a $160,000 final and trip to The Bahamas on the cards; the $10m. Sunday Million on Dec. 18, with guaranteed $2m. first prize; and of course the World Record Tournament on Dec. 4.
