Vegas Style Casino Strip in Asia

There really is no place like the Vegas Strip; the way it glimmers at night, with flashing neon lights everywhere you look, lavish hotels and of course some of the finest casinos anywhere in the world.

It seems impossible to think that there will ever be another place quite like it. Is it really that far-fetched? Apparently not. Construction is soon to begin on what appear to be one of the largest-scale development projects Asia has ever seen.

Sheldon Adelson, the CEO of Las Vegas Sands development company has plans to replicate the famous Vegas Strip in the city of Macau located in China. Macau is the only place in China where casinos are allowed to operate. Development on the 1.3 kilometers Cotai Strip stands to cost between 12 and 15 billion dollars. The project is scheduled to be completed in 7-10 years, and it includes the contraction of 20 hotels and casinos. These hotels are part of some of the biggest chains in the world including Marriott, Hilton, and the Four Seasons.

Adelson, who is already familiar with Macau after finishing the construction of the Sands Macau Casino last year, is encouraged by the staggering success it has had so far. According to Adelson, revenues from the Sands Macau are approaching those of the Venetian Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, which is another project of his. This makes him believe that the Vegas model of success can also be implemented successfully in China.
