Recently, there has even been a crackdown on advertising for online casinos on the internet. Some sites have been able to get their products advertised on the major search engines like Google but international gambling laws are now trying to prevent this. One such case arose in recently in Australia.

Gambling  advertising is illegal in Australia and that's why Google Australia found itself under scrutiny for advertising violations. Advertising for games and gambling sites is strictly not allowed in Australia. Although Google and other search engines have tried to prevent them from advertising on their service they have not strictly enforced the law and some sites have still managed to slip through and end up in the search result one way or another.

Web Wombat, another search engine from Australia and not as well known as Google is also facing similar charges of advertising violations by posting ads for online casinos in their results. Michael Tancredi, managing director of Web Wombat, commented that: 'What we are trying to do is fire-fight, we know it is illegal to advertise for the sites and we are trying to get rid of them as they come out.
