The second largest hotel casino company in the world will not neglect the North American market, as it also plans on opening another resort in Atlantic City, New Jersey.

The Chief Executive of MGM Mirage, the operator, speaking at the Reuters Hotels and Casinos Summit 2007, reported the company is planning a resort in Macau. It will be the companys second such resort operating in the Chinese gambling center, which is quickly becoming a serious contender, along with Las Vegas, of the world's largest gambling center. The first casino hotel referred to above is to open later in the year on a land the size of 10.5 acres where Macau's hotel casinos are located. The new addition, currently in planning, will open on another strip, closer to where other operators are developing a Las Vegas style area.

Speaking about Macau, the CEO said I don't think we should stop at two... I think there will be further opportunities. Certainly this is the sentiment that drives the operator to its global expansion. Its plans to open up a resort in Japan is pending a government decision whether to allow gambling in the first place in the Asian country. The Macau plans are also pending approval, in this case from the Nevada and New Jersey gambling regulators. Hearings are scheduled for the coming months, and the company is optimistic that it will in fact become one of the areas and the world's leading operators.
