Excuse Me, What's Your Age?

Excuse Me, What's Your Age?A major concern for online casino operations, the sites themselves and lawmakers all over the world is the protection of minors or lack there of.

An industry analyst expressed this concern, when in an interview to a technology publication, he said regulators want to make sure that young children do not take part in these services and then become gambling addicts. Does it have what it takes technologically to solve this potential problem? It is most definitely a concern as unlike with land based casinos, here a player cannot present any proof of age certificate.

Over the past years, as the industry has settled in and become more popular and accepted, even legalized and regulated by many countries, much was invested in technological advances to address underage gambling and prevent access to the sites by those underage. Age verification procedures are a main focus of technology companies.

The solutions so far, of voluntary age verification is not enough to convince authorities that enough is being done. But smarter ideas of PIN numbers that correlate with credit cards are more valid and effective. Recent articles around the web that addressed the popularity of online casino gambling at college campuses in the United States show what is at risk and why the need to block minors from accessing sites is so urgent. With considerable investment in funds and time being allotted by the industry, and the proven success of the technology companies in past years in a number of gambling aspects, this too will be a done deal soon enough.
