The Isle of Man-based online gaming software provider, Microgaming, has once again proven itself to be a leader in the industry having recently won the annual 2009 Isle of Man Newspapers Award for Innovation and Independent Thinking.

The awards, now in their fourth year, are intended to celebrate the achievements, dedication and excellence of all businesses and the communities on the Isle of Man.

This is not the first time, however, that Microgaming has received prestigious awards from the Isle of Man Newspapers. In 2008, Microgaming CEO, Roger Raatgever, was named as Business Person of the Year and Microgaming as Company of the Year. In the previous year, Microgaming also won the award for New Business and Programme Development.

Microgaming was praised for its  outstanding technological expertise and skills to bring about a number of ‘firsts' to the e-Gaming market, its status as a leader in responsible gaming and its dedication to the local community as demonstrated by its establishment of the Microgaming Health and Care Trust to support the health and wellbeing of the Manx community.

In 2001, Microgaming selected the Isle of Man to be the home of its global headquarters given that the Island had developed a strong reputation as an IT hub and a centre for IT skills.

Microgaming Sucks

Microgaming used to be my favorite software. Since I am a U.S. player, I am no longer allowed to participate in their progressive jackpot games. However, I can keep all my casino accounts registered prior to the U.S. ban and still make real money deposits. Depositing there as a U.S. player automatically puts you at a disadvantage.
