GoDaddy to Sponsor NBC Poker
GoDaddy.Com, one of the industry leaders in websites and domain names, has been announced as the leading sponsor in the fifth season of NBC's annual National Heads-Up Poker Championship. The championship, which was the first to be televised on a major U.S. broadcast network and the first to be produced by a television network, runs from March 6 to 8 at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas. Sixty four players will compete for a total prize pool of $1.5 million. GoDaddy CEO and founder Bob Parsons said his company sponsors only the most exciting events. "The popularity of poker has grown thanks in large part to television and the Internet...NBC and Caesars Palace are assembling a top-notch tournament with world-class players and I look forward to seeing some great action," he said. Some of the biggest names in poker will be competing, led by three-time National Heads-Up Poker Championship finalist and 2008 winner Chris Ferguson of the United States. Ferguson will be defending his championship status against such opponents as Dane Peter Eastgate, winner of the 2008 World Series of Poker Main Event, and poker legend Doyle "Dolly" Brunson. GoDaddy.com, one of the world's largest sources for domain names, is fronted by a large banner of IndyCar star Danica Patrick, who has appeared on two advertisements for the website during the Super Bowl on February 1. Founded in 1997, GoDaddy has grown to include around 30 million domain names. |
