Negreanu Stars in PokerStars Fox TV Program
PokerStars is set to unveil a brand new television program on Fox unlike any of the regular programs we all know, poker professional Daniel Negreanu has revealed on his blog. Negreanu, who was the 2004 World Poker Tour player of the year, predicted that poker fans were "going to freaking love this show," adding that die hard players were a bit bored with what is currently on offer. According to Negreanu, the new show will begin with a $100,000 minimum buy in, $200-400 blinds with a $100 ante, and a six-handed pot limit in betting before the flop but no limit hold'em after the flop. The twist to the game is that one of the six players at the table will be an online qualifier called "the loose cannon," who will get to sit in the game with $100,000, provided he plays the full session. The loose cannon can keep anything he wins, but if he loses, he gets nothing. The idea behind this is that if the loose cannon is stuck with a losing amount in the late stages of the game, he has no incentive to keep it and is going to start bombing away, creating a scenario where the professionals at the table try to win all the free money on offer. This concept is also the reason behind the pot limit before the flop. By only allowing the loose cannon to make a pot sized raise, the pros will get to see some flops with him, meaning he won't go all-in from the very beginning. Negreanu has promised more details to come and some great lineups for the show. |
"Loose cannon" concept sure to interest bored poker fans, says pro.
