Kahnawake Proposes Casino for Community
The Kahnawake Gaming Commission is known as Canada's largest licenser of interactive gaming sites, but now the Mohawk Council of Kahnawake has proposed a land-based casino to benefit the entire local community. Community CasinoAlthough the Mohawk Council has already had two proposals for bricks-and-mortar casinos knocked back, this one is different. Under the new proposal, every community member would share in the casino's profits through a dividend scheme. The council recently hired an American firm to conduct two studies on the feasibility of the South Shore community casino. It is expected to release the results of the first of those studies later this week. Grand Council Chief Michael Delisle, Jr. has told his community that a casino could generate $20-$30 million, compensating for cuts in federal and provincial funding. Major Online LicenserKahnawake Gaming Commission was one of the first in North America to realize the potential of egaming, and since its founding in 1999 has grown to become one of the largest licensers of online casino, poker and gambling sites in the world. The commission's license-holders include such great casino sites as All Slots Casino, Platinum Play, Royal Vegas, Las Vegas Casino and All Jackpots Casino. All its activities are certified by independent certification authority eCOGRA. |
