Ladbrokes, one of the biggest names in the world of gambling, will soon be undertaking a restructuring process that will see it change the way it operates its online betting and gaming services, according to various news reports.

Ladbrokes have been in the news recently, with a new Microgaming deal.

Closing gap on William Hill

The impending restructure of the company's three business units under CEO Richard Glynn - retail, telephone and online betting - will redirect its focus to its customers and products, with an eye to keep in touch with main rival William Hill. Ladbrokes' net revenue increased by 1.3% last year as Hill climbed by 7%.

A spokesman Ladbrokes said an internal announcement on the restructure would be made next week, which would see it move away from its outdated "retail, digital telephone structure and a move to one that puts the customer at the centre of what we do."

Focus on online

In a sign that the online sportsbook operations will be a heavy part of the new structure, online boss Gary McIlraith is set to leave his job less than one year after beginning.
Ladbrokes has extensive online operations, headlined by its sports betting side, and also featuring an online casino, games and bingo. In addition it has been steadily boosting its presence in the mobile gaming arena, as the trend heads in that direction.
