The world's largest publicly listed online gambling company, bwin.party, and the governing body for world basketball, FIBA, have announced they have extend their current marketing and media rights deal to 2014.

Three More Years

Under the deal, the 3000-employee strong bwin.party will continue to be the sole sports betting brand advertising at FIBA events, which include the upcoming EuroBasket 2011 in Lithuania, the 2012 London Olympics qualifiers, EuroBasket 2013 in Slovenia and the 2014 FIFA World Championships (for men and women) in Spain.

Bwin.party customers benefit too with the deal, which delivers the online sportsbook with exclusive live streaming rights for FIBA tournaments in more than 30 countries around Europe. All are free for bwin.party sports betting customers.

'Promotion of sports essential'

Bwin.party digital entertainment co-CEO Norbert Teufelberger hit the nail on the head when he said that "promotion of sports has always been an essential component of the bwin sports brand philosophy," and went on to name basketball alongside football and motor racing as the three most important sports.

This deal continues a long, positive relationship between e-gaming companies on one side, and international and local sporting bodies and teams on the other, which will no doubt continue for many years to come.
