Playtech Sees Revenue Boost, Signs Gala CoralSoftware giant also makes some big acquisitions, pushes into Italy market.

It has been a big week for Playtech, with the online gambling software giant announcing big numbers for the second quarter and then topping it off with the acquisition of Gala Coral.

Big week for Playtech


On the financial front, Playtech revenues were up an annualized 7 percent in the second quarter. The company recorded revene rises in all areas, excluding its online poker division. Playtech casinos revenues rose€27.3 million.

In other big news for the week, Playtech signed a long-term software contract that will see it provide its technology platform and online gaming products such as sports betting to the Gala Coral Group, which operates in the UK and Italy. As part of the deal, Gala Bingo will move to Playtech's Virtue Fusion network.

Playtech also announced this week the launch of several key licensees in the recently regulated Italian online casino market. The licensees, including Sisas, SNAI, Buongiorno, WHO and TNT have all launched Playtech-powered casinos for Italians in the past few days.

And finally, if all this wasn't enough, the company also acquired Swedish mobile sportsbook Mobenga for €23.8 million, €8 million of it upfront. This will give it another foothold in the mobile betting arena.
