The fact that the player may choose to double down or split when favorable, and gets paid 3:2 for blackjack. Whereas the dealer must adhere to the rules and stand on 17 and above, cannot double down or split and only gets paid 1:1 for blackjack. As many variations of blackjack have emerged, the basic rules apply to them all, as do the basic strategy rules. Starting from a general point of view, there are three things to remember. First, you should always stand on 17 or better. Second, you should always hit on 12-16 when the dealer shows 7 or higher, and third, you should always hit on 8 or less. The next thing that deserves attention is when the right time to double down is. Well, double down on 11 - except against a dealer's ace, on 10 when the dealer shows 9 or lower and on 9 when the dealer shows 6 or lower. On soft hands you should always stand on soft 19 and soft 20 and always double down on soft 13-18 when the dealer shows 4, 5, or 6. Regarding Split strategy, you should always split aces and 8's, never split 10-face cards and never split 5's and always split 3's and 2's when the dealer shows 4,5,6, or 7. Its all about a nice combination of skill and luck when playing online casino blackjack, using a basic blackjack strategy efficiently, should reduce the online casinos advantage to a minimum and, under certain favorable conditions, you should be able to gain an edge over the casino. |
