Obama Keeps Poker Face on UIGEA

President Barack Obama is an exciting public figure, and watched closely by his nation and the entire world.

Having promoted and passed legislation of monolithic proportions (see $787 billion economic stimulus plan), one can only ask What will he do next?

Many in the gambling world hope that the poker loving president will turn his sights on the greatly contested Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act, or UIGEA, in the hopes of stimulating the nation's economy.

This potential fantasy was reinforced by a sobering update this month as Obama's home state of Illinois announced that they might be turning to a form of online gambling to bolster their regional revenue. In fact, it was State Senate President John Cullerton who informed the public of his intention to expand the state lottery by selling tickets online, which is a form of internet gambling allowed by the UIGEA.

Still, the move won't be lost on the president, and seeing as his poker-face is better than any president in living memory, we might all soon be surprised by the repealing of the stringent Internet gambling legislation.
