Gambling and College Life

Gambling and College LifeWhen young eighteen year olds leave home in the United States and go to college, sometimes in a far away state on the other side of the country, parents worry a little. It is natural to worry for the young college student. Indeed there are many good reasons to worry from irresponsible drinking to unsafe sex.

Online gambling has made its reputation in a series of articles and publications that it is addicting, especially so among college students. It will certainly be good advice to share with the young men and women the dangers of irresponsible gambling and ensure that if they do gamble, they do so in a safe manner.

Placing $500 bets on a sports game on any given evening via website is very simple. It is much easier to do than not to wager. This is exactly the problem. Good tips that concerned parents can give their children will be to think twice. Just as in crossing the street or walking home alone at night, make sure you know where you are and what can hit you. Can you afford losing $500 and do you even have that sum to begin with? Use of credit card, at the mall and online, is tempting and it is easy to forget what funds the credit card at the end of the day.

The same with drinking goes with gambling also in the sense of number of shots at the bar or number of games. Every night, for three hours a time and dozens of wagers placed is a lot. A drink, then a second drink, on occasion is the responsible way to go. Make it a regular night, as you would at the bar, or at the gym for that matter. The idea being that original ideas, tips and rules can make gambling somewhat better than shooting yourself in the foot, and even keep it fun.
