How often a person gambles online and how long his or her sessions last are excellent material for surveys and polls. Whether the average gambler visits online casinos twice a week, each time for 2 hours, or perhaps more often or for a shorter time, is interesting. We usually want to compare where we stand with others. In the online gambling universe, of which we are sole citizens, mano a mano vis a vis the computer, this statistics are entertaining and enlightening.

But they are not the subject of this article. What we wish to talk about right now is really something incomparable. It has to do with the gambler himself (or herself), the inner state of emotions, how one confronts the hobby.

So when do you gamble? When you are feeling high after a good day or at the end of a good week? Perhaps when you are down, depressed and feel like nothing can excite you except for some poker action? The state of mind with which gamblers approach the hobby differs and is as far apart as east is from west. Comparing oneself to others may not help in this case. But the importance of realizing where you stand and what brought you here cannot be overstated.

I read in a financial newspaper that an analyst recommends entering the market only when the investor can afford losing the entire investment. Though this is not likely to happen, or chances are at the very least slim that it would, it is a good starting point. The lesson for us gamblers: dont enter the game with the last of your savings.

So when do you gamble? After a good day or when youre down and out? The answers to such questions are interesting to all, but are first and foremost interesting for you.
