eCOGRA Stats Show Dispute Rate Remains Low

Independent player protection and standards organization eCOGRA has released its 2010 statistics on disputes involving accredited online gambling sites.

Dispute rate remains low

Compiled by Fair Gaming Advocate Tex Rees, the stats paint an interesting picture, showing that there was a low dispute rate among accredited operators.

A total of 846 disputes were submitted online to eCOGRA during the year, up from 826 the previous year.

Some 654 disputes were ruled valid, of which 44 % were found to concern cash-in problems, 25% on bonus issues, 19% on locked accounts, and 12% on other issues such as software fairness, responsible gambling and spamming allegations.

Of the remaining 192 disputes that were not ruled upon, 125 were found to be invalid while 67 were made by companies not accredited through the London-based authority.

Player syndicate exposed

Specific complaints also led to an in-depth investigation that uncovered a player syndicate that fraudulently manipulates bonuses.

The investigation used advanced security systems that caught the members making false allegations.

Overall the statistics show that operational standards remain high among accredited industry companies, including online casinos and poker rooms, sportsbooks and mobile gambling businesses.
