Online Poker Better for New Poker Site

Jamie Gold has inspired poker players for a number of years now. Ever since winning the 2006 WSOP - and $12 million prize - the "Poker Philanthropist" has taken his poker record and personal charm to the main stage.

The new FreeGoldPoker.com poker site is hosted on the ZEN Entertainment Network. Prize pools are a total of $100,000 per month.

The poker site's launch is significant not only because of the person behind it, but also following the "Black Friday" fallout of recent months. Gold hopes the site will help the online poker community as well as provide him with more opportunities to support charitable causes.

Jamie Gold hails from the US and is a successful TV Producer and Talent Agent. He met Johnny Chan and Chris Moneymaker whilst developing a TV production. Having loved recreational poker for years this was Gold's first foray into poker playing at the highest level.

Chan subsequently began mentoring Gold which ultimately put him on the road to professional poker. He honed up his skills and began entering major tournaments in 2005. In his first 12 months he won cash prizes in eight major tournaments. The high point of his poker career was winning more than $12 million in the 2006 World Series of Poker Main Event during which he developed a reputation for being a master bluffer.

Gold became a poker celebrity following his WSOP big win. He took it upon himself to raise money for charity and also became a regular on televised poker shows.

Known for his big personality, bolshy playing style and philanthropy, this colorful character has retained a love of all things poker and continues to look at involving himself in the development of the game.
