In Hainan, South China, six leaders of a crime gang were sentenced to death and twenty other members received either death with probation, life imprisonment, and jail terms ranging from one to twenty years. The alleged criminals were found guilty of purchasing, possessing and selling assault weapons ranging from hand to automatic guns. At least five people were killed and five others seriously hurt during their illegal casino and lottery operations. The local fishing industry was also coerced into being run by this mob. |
