Nevada Tackles Gambling Compulsion

Carol O'Hare is the executive director of the Council. She commentated about the program by saying, "It's not about gambling, it's about people. We have seen tangible results from education." During the fifth annual council meeting which lasted one week and ended on August 9th, the focus was on making people aware of the gambling problem and what can be done to control compulsiveness.

Through advertising in well-circulated magazines and newspapers, and by posting signs and banners, the effort to curtail the gambling obsession is being addressed. Park Place Entertainment, which runs Caesars Palace, Bally's and Paris Las Vegas, has put together successful workshop programs in their facilities to address problem areas in gambling and how to aid in the welling of this compulsion.
