Washington Strives for Gambling- Free Environment

The board decided to defer any distributing of expected gambling permits, licenses, and authorizations for a half a year, after the council voted 4-1 on suspension for the time being. An open trial was supposedly expected to take place in August some time, however word had it that a mini casino was likely to set up shop soon, which stirred a commotion amongst those opposed to gambling, and hence pressed the board to take action right away.

The suspension wont impinge on the 29 companies that at present hold gaming licenses in Lakewood, Washington, as well as four nonprofit aid organizations. Golden Nugget and Grand Central casinos that have already been in the process of submitting an application in order to continue in their construction plans, they too won´t be effected. Clyde Brown a gambling adversary from Lakewood, noted that the cessation "has no legal standing. And if challenged, the city will not be able to hold it up in court."
