The situation has led to a national argument that has formed itself in New Jersey. Federal legislators are in limbo, debating whether prohibiting online gambling completely can realistically come to pass. However, other suggestions have been presented for permitting Internet betting with certain rules attached, such as Internet lotteries. In the interim, an alternative panel has been put in to place, in order to observe the current gambling situation and to be able to decide if action should be taken to control online gambling. Those who support regulation believe that it would only benefit New Jersey's $4.3 billion Casino trade. On the other hand, those who challenge the proposal. Feel that it would be technologically impossible to regulate and control underage exploitation as well as obsessive gambling behavior. Although, New Jersey's Casino Control Commission feels that it is not the right time to efficiently control Internet betting, they eventually expect it to come in to fruition at some point in time.
