It is to be housed in a former bank facility.  Spurway has sought permission from Edinburgh's licensing board to get this venture off the ground.  Betfair is cited as Spurway's partner.

The betting exchange concept is a new happening. Rather than one going to a bookie, "punters" can bet on the internet against each other.  Combining a bookie shop and cafe, and betting exchange was the straightforward plan devised by Spurway.  Spurway had in mind to establish a sort of "stock exchange" as opposed to a "bookmaker's shop" whereby trading shares would be between the players trading odds with each other.

Spurway met resistance to his request from Ladbrokes and William Hall.  However, the Edinburgh board allowed Spurway to go ahead with his venture.  Ladbrokes and Hall claimed that what Spurway was asking to do was illegal. It is believed that the board based their decision on Spurway's experience as a bookmaker and Betfair's activities in the Betting Levy scheme.

Spurway intends to open at least 100 shops in the U.K. In order to fund easibet.net Spurway sold his Larkspur chain of stores.
