Like in the US, online casinos were not allowed to operate in the UK but there has been a proposal to reform the online gambling laws in recent months. Now, as it turns out, the controversial UK gambling bill has passed parliament and received Royal agreement this month in England.
Lee Richardson Chartwell CEO of Games Corp had this to say about recent developments in the online casino laws: The United Kingdom is the first G-7 nation to establish a framework of regulation that provides industry standards aimed at providing a safe, secure and regulated environment for players. The gambling bill, which will have a bearing on wagering in the UK, was approved by the House of Lords after the government revised plans for eight new super casinos to just one. The gambling restricts are still actual but there may be some reforms in this area of gambling as well in the near future. Overall, the UK gambling industry was very happy with the reforms in the UK laws and the news that the government will soon regulate online gaming is causing much hype in the arena. President of software company CryptoLogic's Lewis Rose commented on the situation by saying This new law marks a key milestone for online gaming - and we welcomed the decision of the UK government to shine the light on the industry to allow it to thrive in a regulated and licensed environment. The online casino industry is sure to see some positive changes in the UK in the near future. |
There have been a lot of rumblings about reforming online casino laws in the UK and while the subject has been thrown back and forth in parliament some recent progress on the matter is showing positive signs.
