Joseph Hachem, age 39, of Australia was the finalist and winner of the World Series of Poker that took place at a Las Vegas land based casino. The tournament was closely watched by millions and the online casinos have been buzzing with news and updates on the tournament.

In the final poker game at the Las Vegas casino, Hachem flopped a straight and re-raised all-in on the turn card to win the final hand in the poker championship. All in all he took home $7.5 million, the largest prize in poker tournament history. Binion's Gambling Hall & Hotel in downtown Las Vegas, the casino that hosted the high profile tournament, was buzzing with players, poker enthusiasts and spectators. Playing time on the final day of the championship lasted a record 13 hours and 56 minutes.

Hachem paid $10,000 in cash to enter the main poker event. Of course everyone wanted to know how he felt about the big win. He said: "I was on a mission not just for myself, but for Australia as well. From what I've been told by my friends here, Australia has gone mad. I've been trying to get here for a long time. To have made the final table was an honor and to win, what words?"
