The FBI stepping in has created further turmoil in the industry, of which everybody is trying to make sense, and find their account in the meantime.

The arrests of the virtual wallet company that was the most popular deposit method at online casinos, shook the system as it happened. The company, NETeller, announced a freeze on its service to US gamblers and added that it will protect players funds in special accounts until the smoke clears and the situation clarified. But the FBI has since taken action and frozen the funds held in customer accounts at Neteller. The sum that was in these accounts was most certainly large, but no exact number was reported by either NETeller or the FBI. About 85% of the payment providers business comes from US clients, which amounts to billions of dollars a year from online casinos.

Online casinos gamblers have some hope in the future of their funds, based on the statement released by NETeller immediately after the arrests, which said: The funds of US resident customers are held in segregated trust accounts and are fully secure and will be available for withdrawal by customers on demand. With the withdrawal of funds now blocked by law enforcement authorities in the US, the company invites its clients who hold accounts with it at online casinos to check in on the site regularly for more updates. The FBI meanwhile said the funds are potential evidence for a future trial against the company.
