The distinction was specific, and focused on the difference between sales and playing games like poker. This was in direct response to NDP critic Guy Gentners accusation that the B.C. Liberal government was becoming gaming crackheads. Plans to expand casinos and lottery revenues in B.C. led to this statement by Gentner.

Texas Hold'em online, the likes of that right now we have this website and we offer a lottery product online. That in my definition is not gaming, thats simply buying lottery products, said Les of the online casino comparison. He added that the site limits what players can spend. The B.C. Lottery Corporations revenues from lottery ticket sales are expected to top US 1 billion dollars this fiscal year, thanks in part to growing sales through its play website.

With income predicted to climb to US 1.24 billion dollars in 2007, and plans to expand further along the lines of the River Rock Casino in Richmond continue to be discussed, Les denied Gentners suggestion that the government is also looking to expand its offerings. Only time will tell what will happen in this Canadian province regarding gambling. In the meantime, players will continue to buy lottery tickets and try their luck at changing their lives by winning a handsome lot of money.
