Las Vegas race and sports betting books have certainly noticed Big Brown win the second of three races, on its way to win the 2008 Triple Crown.

After winning the Kentucky Derby, Online Casino Reports fooled with the idea that the young thoroughbred will win it all. Yesterday, Big Brown won the 133rd running of the Preakness Stakes Derby, by five and a quarter lengths in fact.

Last we checked, sportsbooks agree. Since Big Brown won the second race on Saturday, the colt's odds to win the Triple Crown are minues 110, similar to the chances it will not win. Bettors risk $1.10 to win $1.

Big Brown's success has the horse racing and sports betting communities finally talking about history - as in the first horse with chances to win the Triple Crown in 30 years - rather than more recent history - namely the unfortunate death of Eight Belles in the Kentucky Derby two weeks ago.

Even animal-rights group PETA was in the headlines recently, arguing for the need to change the horse racing rules and regulations.

Big Brown will run the final mile-and-a-half on June 7 in Belmont, and sports bettors will be watching, with careful attention, both the colt and the odds.
