Yang Surprises Woods, Sportsbooks

Yang Surprises Woods, SportsbooksA $100 bet on Yang would earn bettors $12,500.

The very same morning that would have South Korean golfer Y.E. Yang overcome a 2 stroke deficit behind odds makers favorite Tiger Woods, such posts were all over the internet:

"You can't blame Tiger Woods for being so brilliant, but he has taken some of the excitement out of major championship golf." (The Canberra Times)

"Tiger is a dead cert," said a Paddy Power spokesman.
Oddsmakers too got carried away, turning Woods' odds from 3/2 entering the PGA Championship to 5/1 entering the final round.

Then it happened. Yang shot a 2-under par 70. Woods shot a 3-over par 75. Yang Won. Woods is second.

Yang entered the tournament with odds that would have paid bettors 125 times their bet had he won. Those odds have improved and still would have paid you 20 times your bet.

Kudos to Yang and all the smart bettors out there. Never get carried away, and remember - the only sure thing about sport and sports betting is the Bonus!
