The end of the year will certainly bring with it summaries and other lists. It also means the annual Nobel Prizes will be awarded soon, including the much talked and speculated about - Nobel Prize in Literature.

This has not escaped the online bookmakers. Ladbrokes has posted the odds for this year's nominees. Represented are all literary types: Israeli author Amos Oz has the best odds of winning - 4 to 1.

Also represented are American novelist Thomas Pynchon and Japanese Haruki Murakami (9 to 1 odds both), Milan Kundera who has faced some political controversy this year (50 to 1 odds), and author of The Kindley Ones, Jonathan Littell (100 to 1).

Only a couple of weeks remain for literary fans and online bettors to speculate about this year's Nobel Prize in Literature winner. Announcements will be made in mid October in Stockholm, Sweden.
