Joint SEGA and Playtech Online Casino

SEGA Games and Playtech have signed a new deal, opening the way for the development of an online casino and online poker room by SEGA. Rumors of a SEGA online casino have first aired in September.

The development is exciting news for industry observers: SEGA is a stalwart in the video game industry - having created such 1990s classics as Sonic the Hedgehog, Evander Holyfield Boxing and House of the Dead - but the company has never before had a shot at online gambling.

The SEGA casino will feature the whole range of expected games, including slot machines, blackjack, roulette and craps, but with a SEGA twist. However, SEGA's official mascot Sonic is yet to feature on the site, and it is unclear whether the trusted hedgehog will in the future.

The poker room will include live games and head to head contests with thousands of players, again all being presented under the unique SEGA brand.
