Kahnawake Grants License to Full Tilt Poker

Full Tilt Poker's license was suspended by Alderney following the April 15 crackdown on online poker sites in the US. In a hearing on July 26, Alderney decided to give the poker site a chance to sell to new investors, and reach a decision no later than September 15.

The Mohawk Territory of Kahnawake in Canada meanwhile has granted an application to renew the Secondary Client Provider Authorization held by Full Tilt Poker for a period of 2 years, effective August 1, 2011. The license was granted to FTP's operating company, Kolyma.

The decision by Kahnawake comes as a surprise, short of going against the Alderney decision and industry consensus.

However, Full Tilt Poker is not expected to resume operations until a primary license is granted; Kahnawake's Secondary license requires one such.

Full Tilt is not offering poker games to its players at the moment.
