Texas Hold'em Poker

Texas Hold'em poker is the most popular poker variant in the world. The game is played at bricks and mortar casinos and online casinos with tremendous enthusiasm. In essence, the game is about compiling the best 5-card hand possible, given the two hole cards and the community cards on the table.

Getting started with Texas Hold'em gaming

When playing TH, players are dealt two hole cards (face down) by the dealer. Then a series of community cards is displayed face up in the center of the table. These cards are called the flop. Following the flop is the 4^th card - the Turn - then the 5^th card - The River. During these proceedings, players are welcome to check, bet or fold after each deal.

Players cannot control which cards they will be dealt. Rather they are able to control the amount of money in the pot by way of their contributions. This allows skilled poker players to ramp up the prize money in double quick time. When poker players feel that they have an edge over their opponents they can up the ante.

Betting options in Texas Hold'em gaming

The various options in this regard are calls, checks, bets and raises. At each progressive round of betting, the stakes increase. Depending of course on the cards that a player holds, the hand will either be folded or the player will bet, call or raise. The pot is won by the player who either has the best hand - as evidenced by the showdown, or the player who is essentially the lone ranger at the end of proceedings.

Note that it is entirely possible that more than one player will hold the same value hand at the conclusion of play. In this instance the pot will typically be split. The goal of TH Poker of course is not to win every hand, but to learn how best to play the game and strategize. This bodes well for winning the big pots in the long run.
